  • New Feature: Track prospective customers

    Monday, January 25th, 2010

cm01mg_icon_prospectQuickly add and keep track of prospective customers so you never lose a sale! You let us know that you wanted  the ability to track prospective customers (aka leads) in Customer Manager.  And we are  delighted to announce the Prospects feature has been added to Customer Manager in our latest release!

To learn more about what you wanted, we asked you how you handle prospective customers in your businesses and what was important for this feature.  Based on your great feedback, here are some highlights of the new feature:

    • Track Prospects separately from Customers - one customer said that when she has a free moment, she wants to pull up a list of potential customers and contact them. Check!
      • Use the Prospect filter in the Groups tab to get an overview of prospective customers.
    • Sync Prospects with QuickBooks - so you can write up estimates in QuickBooks for prospective customers. Check!
      • Use the “Sync with QuickBooks” link on a prospect’s Contact View
      • Note: QuickBooks doesn’t have a role called “prospect”, so when you sync with QuickBooks, your prospect will show up as a customer in QuickBooks. Don’t worry, they’ll still be a prospect in Customer Manager until you take action to convert them to customer.
    • Convert Prospects to Customers - once you have worked your magic and a prospect turns into a customer, you want to track them as a customer. Check!
      • Use the “Convert to Customer” link on a prospect’s Contact View
    • Track custom information for Prospects  - and when you convert to Customers, you don’t want to lose that key information.  Check!
      • Prospects use the same custom fields as customers, so when you convert a prospect to a customer, all the custom field information is carried over.

To learn more about this feature, check out the assistance topics in our help system.  The Help System is also available inside Customer Manager (when you’re signed in –> go to the Help Menu in the top right hand corner –> choose the Help item in the drop down menu –> search for “Prospect” to access all assistance topics on Prospects.)

Feedback is a gift, leave us a comment to let us know what you think of Prospects and what you’d like to see next!
